Here's our Bill on harmonica in 2015 with David Leach - a droll young singer-songwriter and ukulele player - giving backing to 'Documentary Filmmaker Blues'. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQr3ghPHC04 .

'Distinctly Oddie' - I've just got to say: what an absolute masterpiece of an album! I had withdrawal symptoms when I couldn't have my customary weekly spin of the disc last Saturday but managed it today. Yes; I did say 'disc'. It's not available in any other format than 1960s vinyl, as far as I can tell (Sorry, SirQuacky's 2011 link doesn't work for me). Why no CD?! But it wasn't expensive to buy on the collectors' market. Yes, some of the songs were in ISIRTA and you can find the shows they appear in online, but they were re-recorded for the album and there are other things on it, like added whoopee! Just imagine if Kenny Everett did a Peter Sellers album and you get somewhere towards the atmosphere, which is a bit like Bill trying to single-handedly be all of the Wonder Team (and the Audience) - Richard Hill & Nicky Welsh did a grand job on the production & arrangement. If you haven't read Robert Ross's review of D.O., maybe DON'T, as it gives away a couple of jokes - just find yourself a copy and get that turntable out of the loft (so trendy, don't you know!). It just gets better every time I hear it. Fave tracks: Old Boutique, Stop It I Like It, Rhubarb Tart Blues. And that last is not the 1948 Show march - this is way more lively! Some songs later morphed into Goodies tracks, of course, so you'll have fun spotting them. [Be warned - you'll hear a startling word beginning with 'v', but in those days I think it meant those vibrating belts that wobbled your bodyfat away...at least, I think so... Bill? Bill!]

Bill's music is very good indeed.
The Cricklewood tapes CD, has such wonderful harmonics from each of the Goodies. There is one track i wish was included though, the tune from Cecily, during the sequence when they are all doing there tasks, in the house and garden. (not the I'm coming out to play, track).

Yes, I remember that music but had to go and look it up. Pixley says it's 'Early Morning Theme' by Michael Gibbs (so not a Bill tune), and was previously used in Snooze. Can't recall where it comes in Snooze so will have to listen carefully when I watch Series One again, which will be very soon.

www.bennewsam.co.uk/ISIRTA.html This is a site with links to all the ISIRTA shows and Ben has now finished adding direct links to Bill's songs as well. It's like a Bill Oddie jukebox, yay! On a few of them, the audio is poor quality (although most are fine) but this just goes to show how undervalued and poorly-marketed this comedy gold is by its owners.
